About Bungay Community Support

Bungay Community Support (BCS) is a well-established local charity at the heart of the Bungay community. We bring people together through wellbeing activities, social connection, and practical support for those in need.

We are a small but growing organisation where Trustees play an active, senior management role. We welcome individuals who can offer their time, enthusiasm, and commitment to help shape and strengthen the future of BCS.

Who can become a trustee?

You do not need previous trustee experience. We welcome applications from people from a wide range of backgrounds, especially those who care about our mission and the Bungay community; are willing to learn and ask questions, can think strategically, and enjoy working as part of a team.

Do I need specific skills or experience?

There are no formal requirements. We are looking for people who can offer commitment to supporting our community, dedication to good governance and charity values, reliability and willingness to take an active role, a collaborative and positive approach, and a desire to help a small charity grow and thrive.

What skills are especially helpful?

We are particularly keen to hear from people with experience in marketing or fundraising; law or governance; HR or personnel; estates and premises management; health and safety; or finance or bookkeeping.

What level of commitment is involved?

Trustees meet every six weeks — approximately nine times a year. Meetings are held in the evening, either in person or online.

As BCS is a small and developing charity, Trustees also take on aspects of a senior management role. Trustees may take responsibility for a specialist area that matches their skills and interests, join workshops or focused project groups, and help shape the strategic direction and development of the charity.

Do I have to live in Bungay?

No. You can live within a 6-mile radius of Bungay or be connected to a business in Bungay.

How can I find out more or get involved?
