We’re excited to share that we’ve been awarded nearly £20,000 in funding from the National Lottery. This fantastic news means we can cover more of our running costs and improve the services at Number 28, our Community Hub. This will benefit everyone in Bungay and nearby villages within a six-mile radius.

Located on Wingfield Street, we at Bungay Community Support plan to use this funding to offer more activities and support to our community. We started in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic as Bungay Emergency Community Support. Now, we have three part-time staff and 35 volunteers working with us.

Number 28 is open from Tuesday to Thursday and includes a Food Hall. We offer sessions like Breakfast at Baby Basics and Tech Support. We also provide outreach services from Citizens Advice, East Suffolk Council, Job Centre Plus, and NHS Wellbeing (NSFT). Plus, we continue our essential shopping and medication delivery services, which were our main focus when we first started.

This grant from The National Lottery Community Fund, the UK’s largest community funder, will help us expand our sessions and add more services.

Linda Bailey, one of our Trustees, said: “We’re thrilled that The National Lottery Community Fund has recognised our work. Thanks to National Lottery players, we can go ahead with our plans to offer more opportunities for Bungay residents. We see the need for our services every day, and with this extra funding, we can keep growing and improving what we do.”

With this new funding, we’re excited to continue making a positive impact on our community, offering even more support and activities for everyone.
